Migration Report 2023

The State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) publishes annually the digital migration report. The newly collected core data and tables are transformed into meaningful stories. Statistical surveys on 11 topics such as immigration, naturalization, asylum requests, or migration routes are summarized and visualized in key statements.

Scrollytelling, originally developed as a journalistic narrative form, allows for an intuitive and linear exploration of complex content through structured scrolling. Combining animated infographics and maps with illustrations and carefully coordinated short texts, the topic of migration is made sensitively accessible to a broad audience. The usual pie and bar charts are replaced by striking graphics. The visual appearance is both memorable and timeless. The design is intended not to provoke, but to move.
