Infographic – Mountains of rubbish

For the EPFL's Dimensions magazine, Emphase crafted a comprehensive infographic that spans a double-page spread, illustrating the historical accumulation of waste over time. Stretching from 1880 to 2018, the graphic provides a striking view of the increase in four types of waste: mineral extraction, microplastics in the oceans, CO2 in the atmosphere, and space debris.

This visualization occupies the full width of the double-page, presenting the waste accumulation curves in a visually compelling manner. Each curve is complemented by informative milestones that highlight key dates, effectively showcasing not just the scale of the issue but also the pivotal moments in this environmental challenge.
